City of West Des Moines plans to submit a Notice of Intent to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to be covered under the NPDES General Permit Number 2 "Storm Water Discharge Associated with Industrial Activity for Construction Activities" for public construction in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The stormwater discharge will be from site grading associated with the construction of a new addition and parking area at 6500 Grand Ave in West Des Moines. Soil disturbing activities will include the following: grading for construction of a building expansion, parking area, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water mains, and utility installation. The project is located within the city limits of West Des Moines, Iowa and more specifically within the NE ¼ of Section 25, T-78-N, R-26-W and the SE ¼ of Section 24, T-78-N, R-26-W, Dallas County, Iowa.
Runoff is currently conveyed to an on-site storm sewer system. The proposed project will construct new storm sewers to serve the proposed development. The on-site pond has a single point source outlet that flows through a swale to the Raccoon River.
