PUBLIC NOTICE
The Walker River Paiute Tribe was awarded
federal funding under the Tribal Broadband
Connectivity Program (TBCP) administered by
the National Telecommunications and
Information Administration (NTIA) to enable
high-speed broadband services to tribal
businesses, community institutions, and
unserved Native American households
located on the Walker River Indian Reservation
("Reservation") in Schurz, Nevada. The Project
encompasses approximately 10 miles of FTTH.
The Project also calls for installation of wireless
internet equipment on existing towers located
in the Project Area. The Project will serve up to
418 households, 10 businesses, and 22
community anchor institutions. The potential
environmental impacts associated with the
proposed project was analyzed in a federal
Environmental Assessment (EA). A 30-day
public comment period for the draft EA begins
on 09/17/2025. The draft EA can be downloaded
for review at: https://broadbandusa.ntia.gov/
