PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to section 24.700 of the Oconto County Nonmetallic Mining Reclamation Ordinance that a nonmetallic mining reclamation plan has been received for nonmetallic mining site(s) listed below. The Oconto County Zoning Office has reviewed these plans and believed that they conditionally meet the requirements of the Oconto County Nonmetallic Mining Reclamation Ordinance and Chapter NR135, WI Administrative Code. Any person residing within, owning property within, or whose principal place of business is within 300 feet of the boundary of the parcel or parcels of land in which the nonmetallic mining site is proposed may request a public informational hearing of the reclamation proposed nonmetallic mine site. Requests for the public informational hearing must be made within 30 days of the publication of this notice. The public hearing shall be limited to the purpose of explaining and receiving comment from the affected persons on the nature, feasibility, and effects of the proposed reclamation of the nonmetallic mine site.
Site Information: The site is located on the Sprague Family Irrevocable Trust property, tax parcel number 008-161600614 & 008-161600513 in the SE ¼ of the NE ¼, and the SW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 16, T30N-R19E, Town of Oconto Brazeau, Oconto County, WI. The current zoning is Agricultural with Quarry Overlay, and the post mining land use will be grassland with a pond. The exception to this is the area between the ATC power lines will be reclaimed with slopes no greater than 5:1 and will be maintained above the water table to ensure utility service vehicles cab pass through at the completion of mining operations. The nonmetallic mining site operator is Peters Concrete Company.
