QUINCY TOWNSHIP
NOTICE OF ADOPTION
On May 6, 2026, the Towship Board of Quincy, Branch County, Michigan adopted "An Ordinance to Amend the Zoning Ordinance to Regulate Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems" (the "Ordin0ance"). The Ordinance is available for inspection at the Village of Quincy Hall, 47 Cole Street, Quincy, MI 49082, during regular business hours, or on the Township website. Copies may be obtained for a reasonable charge. The following is a summary of the regulatory effect of the Ordinance.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO REGULATE UTILITY-SCALE BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS
Section 1. Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. Adds a new Section 8.115 to the Township Zoning Ordinance to provide comprehensive regulations for the Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, which are permitted by special land use permit in the Industrial District. Regulations include setbacks, noise, location and other land-use regulations. It also includes alternate regulations applicable to qualifying projects under PA 233 of 2023.
Section 2. Severability. If any portion of the Ordinance is found invalid, such holding does not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the Ordinance.
Section 3. Repealer. All other ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent necessary to give this Ordinance full force and effect.
Section 4. Effective Date. The Ordinance takes effect upon the expiration of seven days following publication of this summary, or as provided by law.
