Record Destruction Notice 2026 Public Notice
Notice is hereby given that the Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education program for Lane County, Early Childhood CARES, formerly known as EC CARES and PACE / Community Options, will destroy all special education student records that are no longer needed in regard to providing educational services for the following students:
For children that exited the program on September 1, 2010, records will be destroyed 9/1/2026.
For children that exited the program on September 1, 2011, records will be destroyed 9/1/2027.
For the purpose of claiming social security or other benefits, former students may need special education records. If you were a student and received special education services, and you wish to obtain the records mentioned above, please contact Early Childhood CARES at 541-346-2578 or in writing at Early Childhood CARES, Expired Records, 1500 West 12th Ave., Eugene, OR 97402.
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), once the student has reached 18 years of age, consent to disclose educational records transfers to the student. Please note that this does not include the student's permanent record, which must be maintained indefinitely by local school districts (OAR 581-021-0220).
The Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education records include students from all school districts in Lane County.
