Request for Proposal for Design and Engineering Services for a Replacement Four Bay Fire Station for the Charter Township of Bedford. 1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION Bedford Township wishes to engage the services of an Architectural firm to assist in the development of a replacement fire station on the same site as the current Fire Station #1 located at 21962 Bedford Road, Battle Creek Ml. The current Fire Station #1 will be demolished by the Calhoun County Land Bank. The project must consist of the following facility components: - 3 Fire apparatus bays - 2 Cemetery maintenance bays - 1 Maintenance office - 1 Conference room -1 Kitchen - 2 Administrative offices - 1 Laundry room - 1 Turnout gear storage room - 1 Medical supply storage room - 1 Storage closet - 1 Mechanical room -1 Day room - 2 Single stall locker rooms/ decontamination room - 3 Bathrooms - 1 Hose tower 3.0 ENGINEERING DESIGN SCOPE OF WORK The following Architectural and Engineering services are to be considered required within your fee proposal. 1. The Engineering Consultant's contract will be held by Architect and Architect shall oversee the coordination of engineering scope of work. 2. Work collaboratively and aid in the selection of the Construction Manager. During the design process, they will work with Construction Manager and Owner for budget updates and value enhancing options. 3. Review program with Bedford Township to understand level of quality and operational conditions preferred. 4. Facilitate project meetings as required for the proper implementation of the work and prepare meetings reports to drive project outcomes. Meetings include, but are not limited to, design meetings, construction administration meetings, equipment planning meetings, estimate reviews, CA/OAC meetings, work sessions, cost event review meetings, pay application review, etc. S. During the design process, work with Construction Manager and Owner for budget updates and value enhancing options. 6. Facilitate and organize all Design and Planning Activities and provide applicable production to develop design deliverables, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and technology design (tele, data, security, AV, paging/sound, etc.). 7. Coordinate and collaborate in planning of Owner provided services & equipment. 8. Participate in, and provide input on, the selection of the Construction Manager. 9. Provide compliance with the applicable local, state and national ordinances, codes and regulations, and assist in gaining necessary municipal and state agency approvals that may be required for obtaining building permits, approvals and Certificates of Occupancy. 10. Include all CW standards, front ends, and master specifications. 11. Preparation of as-built documents. 4.0 SUBMITTAL CONTENT The following information is requested to allow a fully informed decision related to the selection of and Architectural firm. Please prepare your proposal in a simple and concise format. 4.1 General Information Name, address, phone, fax, email, Federal ID# and website addressDate the firm was established under the given nameType of ownership, or legal structure, of firmSingle contact and authorized representative (principal-in-charge) of the firmBrief history of firmProfessional services providedNumber of years your firm has been providing Architectural Design services 4.2 Firm Overview 4.3 Team List the name, title, total years of experience and level of experience of each proposed staff member to be assigned to the project and the % of commitment to the projectIdentify staff members with municipal design experience and elaborate on that experience and how it will benefit the Charter Township of Bedford.Describe their responsibilities on this projectHighlight projects of similar size and scope where the staff member's role was similar to their role on this projectProvide an organizational chart of the project team.list of past projects or similar projects the firm was involved in similar to the proposed project within the last five yearslist past or similar projects the firm was involved in with other municipalities with similar projects.Indicate the project name, year of completion, cost and a project reference with a current phone numberDescribe the firm's role in each of the projects.Describe your firm's philosophy, approach and recommended process for providing Architectural design services to meet the goals of this request for proposalMilestone schedule/workplan to achieve the project objectivesProvide a simple and concise timeline identifying your proposed schedule to complete the required design milestones including programming, schematic design, design development and construction documents.Summarize your approach to coordinating with Owner teams and vendors to coordinate Owner provided systems and equipment.Summarize your approach to coordinating and addressing construction constraints with Construction Manager and their trade partners.Include in your approach a narrative describing what you believe to be the major challenges related to the project. Also describe what you feel should be considered in the design of the facility as it relates 4.4 Experience 4.5 Approach to the future of conducting and delivering corporate services, anticipated technological advances and flexibility allowing the physical environment to change and grow over time in pace with the exciting and important future advancements of technology and corporate growth. 4.6 Fees This project will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 Provide a not-to-exceed amount for all services necessary to complete the Programing and Schematic Design.
