Request for Proposal for Design and Engineering Services for a Replacement Four Bay Fire Station for the Charter Township of Bedford.
1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Bedford Township wishes to engage the services of an Architectural firm to assist in the development of a
replacement fire station on the same site as the current Fire Station #1 located at 21962 Bedford Road, Battle Creek Ml. The current Fire Station #1 will be demolished by the Calhoun County Land Bank.
The project must consist of the following facility components:
- 3 Fire apparatus bays
- 2 Cemetery maintenance bays
- 1 Maintenance office
- 1 Conference room
-1 Kitchen
- 2 Administrative offices
- 1 Laundry room
- 1 Turnout gear storage room
- 1 Medical supply storage room
- 1 Storage closet
- 1 Mechanical room
-1 Day room
- 2 Single stall locker rooms/ decontamination room
- 3 Bathrooms
- 1 Hose tower
3.0 ENGINEERING DESIGN SCOPE OF WORK
The following Architectural and Engineering services are to be considered required within your fee proposal.
1. The Engineering Consultant's contract will be held by Architect and Architect shall oversee the coordination of engineering scope of work.
2. Work collaboratively and aid in the selection of the Construction Manager. During the design process, they will work with Construction Manager and Owner for budget updates and value enhancing options.
3. Review program with Bedford Township to understand level of quality and operational conditions preferred.
4. Facilitate project meetings as required for the proper implementation of the work and prepare meetings
reports to drive project outcomes. Meetings include, but are not limited to, design meetings, construction administration meetings, equipment planning meetings, estimate reviews, CA/OAC meetings, work sessions, cost event review meetings, pay application review, etc.
S. During the design process, work with Construction Manager and Owner for budget updates and value enhancing options.
6. Facilitate and organize all Design and Planning Activities and provide applicable production to develop design deliverables, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and technology
design (tele, data, security, AV, paging/sound, etc.).
7. Coordinate and collaborate in planning of Owner provided services & equipment.
8. Participate in, and provide input on, the selection of the Construction Manager.
9. Provide compliance with the applicable local, state and national ordinances, codes and regulations, and assist in gaining necessary municipal and state agency approvals that may be required for obtaining
building permits, approvals and Certificates of Occupancy.
10. Include all CW standards, front ends, and master specifications.
11. Preparation of as-built documents.

4.6 Fees This project will be executed in two phases. Phase 1
Provide a not-to-exceed amount for all services necessary to complete the Programing and Schematic Design. This phase must be completed along with cost estimates and approved by Township Supervisor prior to moving onto Phase 2.Provide hourly rates for all personnel expected to be involved in the projectProvide an estimate of reimbursable expenses you expect to incur during the completion of this project Phase 2
Provide a fee-based cost estimate including estimated reimbursable cost for Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
