Sanitary Sewer Over Flow On April 24, at approximately 8:15 A.M., the City of Petoskey Department of Public Works was notified of a sanitary sewer over flow near the intersection of Jennings Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. City crews determined that there was a blockage on Jennings Avenue, causing the issue. Crews had the blockage cleared by approximately 10:15 A.M. It was estimated that approximately 500 gallons of untreated sewage leaked onto the street curb. The Health Department of Northwest Michigan and Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) have both been notified. City Crews had the impacted area cleaned up by 11:00 am Friday, April 24. The City of Petoskey is in compliance with all other aspects regarding its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. April 29 2026 LPET0507320
