The New Hampshire Coastal Program (NHCP) is reviewing the following activities for consistency with its enforceable policies:
The National Marine Fisheries Service is proposing a rule to prohibit retention of mobulid rays in fisheries for Atlantic highly migratory species (HMS), to require mobulid rays to be released unharmed in HMS fisheries, and to implement mobulid ray handling practices for vessels fishing with pelagic longline gear.
The U.S. Coast Guard is proposing to establish shipping safety fairways and associated vessel routing measures along the Atlantic coast to preserve safe and reliable transit of vessels along historic critical shipping routes essential for U.S. maritime economic prosperity and national security. There are no proposed fairways or vessel routing measures proposed in New Hampshire state waters.
The Town of Hampton is applying for renewal of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit from the EPA to discharge treated wastewater from its wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) to an unnamed tributary to Tide Mill Creek. The Town of Hampton is not proposing any changes to the configuration or operation of the existing WWTF as part of its NPDES permit renewal application.
The deadline for written comments on the above proposals is October 10, 2025. For additional information please visit the NHCP web site at https://www.des.nh.gov/public-comment-opportunities?category=Coastal, or contact Christian Williams at (603) 559-0025 or christian.p.williams@des.nh.gov.
