South Dallas County Landfill

The Final meeting of the South Dallas County Landfill was called to order by Chair Shirley K. McAdon at 3:30 p.m. Also present: Mike Fountas and Michael Chadwick.
Review and Approve the Minutes of the Previous Meeting: Motion by McAdon to approve the June 11, 2026, meeting minutes. Motion carried. Review and Approve Bills: Motion by McAdon to approve the bills. Motion carried. Receive Chair's Report: McAdon reported that the audit is set for July 28, 2026. Next steps for dissolution were discussed. Once the sale of the Landfill to the City of Adel has occurred on July 1, the assets will be transferred and a permit amendment will be pursued on behalf of the City. Once all legal steps have been completed, the City will complete the process to dissolve the 28E organization. Receive Staff's Reports: Director: Equipment Status: Fountas reported that the new John Deere Dozer has arrived. The ripper for the Dozer will be installed once it is onsite. Site Status: Fountas reported that the staff has built a new road to the new working face. Other: The Brickyard has received notice of the discontinuance of the allowance of 13 tons/month without charge on July1 because the Landfill will have changed ownership. Collections: Chadwick is following up on the one account that has an extended past due balance. Approve Bill of Sale and Warranty Deed to the City of Adel: Motion by McAdon to approve the Bill of Sale and the Warranty Deed for the City of Adel. Motion carried. Other Business: None.
