NOTICE OF ANNEXATION
The City of West Des Moines has received an application for Voluntary Annexation into the City for portions of Section 16, Township 78 North, Range 26 West, in Dallas County. Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of West Des Moines will hold a public hearing at 5:30 pm on May 4, 2026, in the Council Chambers of the West Des Moines City Hall, located at 4200 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa, to consider this application for voluntary annexation of a contiguous parcel into the City of West Des Moines. In general, the proposed annexation encompasses 58.3 acres of land located at the SE corner of the intersection of Grand Prairie Parkway and Mills Civic Parkway/335th Street, including adjoining rights-of-way.
The area is more specifically defined as follows:
A PART OF THE SOUTHEAST 1/4 OF SECTION 16, TOWNSHIP 78 NORTH, RANGE 26 WEST OF THE 5TH P.M., DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SAID SECTION 16;
THENCE WESTERLY ALONG THE SOUTH LINE OF SAID SOUTHEAST 1/4 OF SECTION 16 TO THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF THE PRESENTLY ESTABLISHED GRAND PRAIRIE PARKWAY, SAID POINT BEING THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF PARCEL 030-004-F1 AS SHOWN ON ACQUISITION PLAT RECORDED IN BOOK 2019, PAGE 12816 ON PAGE 7 AND 8, IN THE OFFICE OF THE DALLAS COUNTY RECORDER;
THENCE NORTHERLY ALONG SAID PRESENTLY ESTABLISHED WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF GRAND PRAIRIE PARKWAY TO THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF PARCEL 030-004-F3 AS SHOWN ON ACQUISITION PLAT RECORDED IN SAID BOOK 2019, PAGE 12816 ON PAGE 11 AND 12;
THENCE EASTERLY ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID PARCEL 030-004-F3 TO THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF SAID PARCEL 030-004-F3, ALSO BEING THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF PARCEL 030-004-F2 AS SHOWN ON ACQUISITION PLAT RECORDED IN SAID BOOK 2019, PAGE 12816 ON PAGE 9;
THENCE EASTERLY ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID PARCEL 030-004-F2 TO THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF SAID PARCEL 030-004-F2;
THENCE NORTH TO THE CENTERLINE OF 335TH STREET AS PRESENTLY ESTABLISHED;
THENCE EASTERLY ALONG THE CENTERLINE OF 335TH STREET AS PRESENTLY ESTABLISHED TO THE EAST LINE OF SAID SOUTHEAST 1/4 OF SAID SECTION 16;
THENCE SOUTH ALONG SAID EAST LINE TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING.
