PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on May 4, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., the Unified Planning/Zoning Board of the Borough of Matawan will hold a public hearing on the application of Remo Leonelli. The public hearing will be held at the Community Center, 201 Broad Street, Matawan, New Jersey. The premises which are the subject of the application are located at 5 Texas Road, Matawan, New Jersey. Said premises are known as Lot 9, Block 121.
The applicant is seeking Variance approval to convert the existing detached garage into an in-law suite. The proposed suite is not a permitted use and therefore, a use variance is required under NJSA 40:55D-70(d)(1). In addition, a variance is required for the existing garage side yard setback of 5 ft. where 8 ft. is required.
The applicant also intends to request at the hearing such density variance and/or waivers of design standards and/or submission requirements as are required to develop the premises in the manner indicated in the application materials, and any other variances or waivers that the Board may require.
The application for development and all supporting maps, site plans and documents are on file in the office of the Department of Planning and Zoning and are available for public inspection, during normal business hours at the Borough of Matawan, 201 Broad Street, Matawan, New Jersey. Any interested party may appear at the aforesaid hearing, either in person, or by their attorney, and be given an opportunity to be heard with respect to the aforesaid application.
