COUNTY OF SOMERSET PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF PENDING ORDINANCE The ordinance, published herein, was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the governing body of the County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, on October 14, 2025 and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on October 28, 2025 at its regularly scheduled meeting after a public hearing was held. ORD25-1999 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ALONG GREEN BROOK ROAD, COUNTY ROUTE 636, NORTH PLAINFIELD BOROUGH, SOMERSET COUNTY, NEW JERSEY AND SETTING THE PUBLIC HEARING FOR OCTOBER 28, 2025, AT 6:00 P.M. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners, for the County of Somerset that; SECTION I. Speed limits for both directions of traffic along Green Brook Road, County Route 636, in the borough of North Plainfield, shall be established as follows: ZONE 1. 25 miles per hour from Somerset Street to Rockview Terrace/Harrison Avenue. ZONE 2. 35 miles per hour from Rockview Terrace/Harrison Avenue, County Route 645, except 25 miles per hour when passing through the West End Elementary School Zone, beginning at Judges Lane and ending at Hawthorne Place, during recess, when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway, or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours. SECTION II. Regulatory and Warning signs, conforming to the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, shall be erected and maintained to affect the above-designed speed limits. SECTION III. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication as required by law and upon approval by the Somerset County Engineer. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that all previous ordinances or resolutions establishing speed limits on the aforementioned roadway(s) or portions of the roadway(s) herein described are hereby repealed. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the foregoing Ordinance was duly introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, Somerset County, State of New Jersey, held on October 14, 2025. Further notice was given that said Ordinance would be considered for final passage and adoption at a regular meeting of said Board of County Commissioners, third floor, Somerset County Administration Building, 20 Grove Street Somerville, New Jersey at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th day of October 2025 at which time and place any person interested therein was given the opportunity to be heard.
