NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
MEETING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION OF
TRUMANSBURG CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing of the qualified voters of Trumansburg Central School District, Tompkins County, New York, at will be held at the Trumansburg Central School District, Charles O. Dickerson High School Library, 100 Whig Street, Trumansburg, New York in said district on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 5:30 P.M. prevailing time, for the transaction of such business as is authorized by the Education Law. Pursuant to the Education Law, Section 2013, and by resolution of the Board of Education, voting on the 2026-2027 Budget Proposition, Purchase of School Buses Proposition, Library Proposition and election of two Board Members will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 8:00 P.M. prevailing time at Ulysses Historical Society, 39 South Street, Trumansburg, New York at which time the polls will be opened to vote by ballot or machine.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk, not later than Monday, April 20, 2026, at 5:00 P.M. and must contain at least 25 signatures of qualified voters. Petitions may be obtained from the District Clerk through the District Office located in Charles O. Dickerson High School, West Wing, Trumansburg Central School.
The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education:
A three-year term, ending June 30, 2026, presently held by Steven Daly
A three-year term, ending June 30, 2026, presently held by Tanya Grove
The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to fill three-year terms commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring on June 30, 2029.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the budget may be obtained by any taxpayer in the district during the fourteen days immediately preceding the budget and proposition vote except Saturday, Sunday, or holidays, at the Trumansburg Central School District Office between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. prevailing time.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots and early voting ballots shall be obtainable from Tina Lincoln, District Clerk between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday except holidays. The District Clerk must receive completed applications at least seven (7) days before the election, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally by the voter. All absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday May 19, 2026.
AND NOTICE IS GIVEN that qualified military voters may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at (607)387-7551 Ext. 4427 or tlincoln@tburg.k12.ny.us. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 PM on April 22, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or email.
A list of persons to whom early mail, absentee and military ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the district in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays prior to the day set for the annual election, May 19, 2026. Any qualified voter present in the polling place may object to the voting of the ballot upon appropriate grounds for making his/her challenge and the reasons therefore known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls.
