Big Flats Fire District #1 NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION Big Flats Fire District No. 1 in the Town of Big Flats Chemung County, New York NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to a resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners, a special election of the qualified voters of the Big Flats Fire District No. 1. in Big Flats, New York, County of Chemung will be held at the Big Flats Fire Department's Firehouse located at 505 Maple Street, Big Flats, New York in Chemung County on the 4th day of August 2026, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 pm. to vote on whether to approve the following resolution adopted by such Board of Fire Commissioners: RESOLUTION REGARDING INCREASING THE STATUTORY SPENDING LIMITATION: RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE BIG FLATS FIRE DISTRICT NO. 1, TOWN OF BIG FLATS, CHEMUNG COUNTY, NEW YORK (THE "DISTRICT"), AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DISTRICT TO INCREASE THE STATUTORY SPENDING LIMITATION BY $500,000, FROM APPROXIMATELY $878,856.97 TO THE AMOUNT OF $1,378,587 PER YEAR FOR FIVE YEARS BEGINNING FISCAL YEAR 2027. Please note: That this is not a request to raise taxes, but simply to bring the amount of spending in line with the legally authorized amount of expenditures for this District. This is not an authorization or request to raise the budget itself. All persons registered to vote in the district and residing in the fire district for at least thirty (30) days prior to the day of the vote may vote in such special election.
