A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE PROPOSED PERMANENT CLOSING OF A PORTION OF MCDONALD STREET WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has received a request to permanently close a portion of McDonald Street. Said portion is described more particularly as follows: BEGINNING at the northwestern corner of Lot 56 as depicted in that plat entitled “Map of J.W. Hollingsworth Property Being 2nd. Cedar Rose Addition” and recorded in Plat Book 7, Page 137 of the Cumberland County Registry, said point also being in the eastern right of way margin of Maxwell Street, and continuing thence with said eastern right of way margin North 10 degrees 46 minutes 29 seconds East 30 feet to a point, thence with the northern right of way margin of McDonald Street South 79 degrees 13 minutes 31 seconds East 146.23 feet to a point, thence South 10 degrees 46 minutes 29 seconds West 30.00 feet to a point in the southern right of way margin of McDonald Street, thence continuing with said margin North 79 degrees 13 minutes 31 seconds West 146.23 feet to the BEGINNING, and being 4,386.90 square feet more or less. AND WHEREAS the above-described property is located within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville and the Council intends to approve said request. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED on behalf of the people of Fayetteville, the City Council calls a public hearing on the question of the proposed permanent closing to be held during the regular meeting of the Fayetteville City Council in Council Chambers at 433 Hay Street, 6:30 PM, April 27, 2026. Persons wishing to be heard regarding this issue shall sign up with the City Clerk, by name and home address, before 5:00 PM on the date of the scheduled public hearing as pursuant to City Council Policy 120.02. The City Manager or his designee is directed to advertise this notice as prescribed in N.C.G.S. §160A-299 on March 17th, 24th, 31st and April 7th of 2026.
