Point Au Sable Restoration Site- Invasive Species Control
NES Ecological Services has been contracted by the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay to spot treat 23.14 acres of invasive species consisting of common reed (Phragmites australis), reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) within the Point Au Sable Restoration Site (29.17 acres) located in the Town of Scott. Work will begin in May and conclude by December 31, 2026. All invasive species will be treated with an aquatic approved herbicide and follow guidelines provided by the University, in order to reduce impacts to native plants and wildlife within the property. Herbicide treatments will be conducted by a combination of foliar spraying with a backpack sprayer or ATV tank sprayer and hand wicking. Any request for a public meeting must be made within five days after this notice is published. The request must address the topics to be discussed at the meeting, including problems and alternatives, and must be sent in writing to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, 2984 Shawano Avenue, Green Bay, WI, 54313 with attention to Claire Hetzel.
