
EPA Seeks Comments on Two Draft Injection Well Permits

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 5, 77 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois 60604 is accepting comments on its proposed approval of two Class I Non-Hazardous injection well permits for Consumers Energy Company. The wells will be located in Port Sheldon in Ottawa County Michigan. The wells would be used to inject non-hazardous wastewater generated from the J.H. Campbell Generating Station at Croswell Street, West Olive MI 49460.
Comments and requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing. EPA will hold a hearing if it determines there is significant interest in the proposed permit issuances based upon written requests. If a public hearing is scheduled, a notice of the hearing will be published at least 30 days in advance. EPA will respond to all significant comments on the proposed permit issuances received on or before May 4, 2026.
