
EPA Public Hearing on Two Draft Injection Well Permits
Port Sheldon Township, Ottawa County, Michigan
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 5, 77 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois 60604 is accepting comments on its proposed approval of two Class I Non-Hazardous injection well permits for Consumers Energy Company. The wells will be located in Port Sheldon in Ottawa County, Michigan. The wells would be used to inject non-hazardous wastewater generated from the J.H. Campbell Generating Station at Croswell Street, West Olive MI 49460.

Availability Session: 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Public Hearing: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
During the availability session, EPA representatives will answer questions. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy will participate. During the hearing, you may comment orally to EPA on the draft permits. EPA may limit the time for speakers depending on the number of people who want to speak. EPA will respond to all significant comments on EPA's draft permits after the comment period closes. Responses will address comments received during the original and current comment periods. EPA initiated the original comment period on April 1st, 2026.

Written comments must be received by 11:59 pm on July 26, 2026. If you already submitted a comment, you do not need to resubmit.
