The regular meeting of the Lafourche Parish Fire Protection District Number Three Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The meeting took place at the Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 Training Building in Cut Off. Chairman Reggie Pitre called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. PLEDGE TO THE AMERICAN FLAG: Chairman Pitre led the pledge to our flag. ROLL CALL OF COMMISSIONERS: Chairman Reggie Pitre–Present; Vice-Chairman Dean Savoie–Present; Commissioner Morris Guidry–Present; Commissioner Aaron Montez–Present; Commissioner Troy Dufrene–Present. APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES: Commissioner Savoie moved to accept the minutes of the April 28, 2026, Regular Board Meeting, as written, seconded by Commissioner Montez. No public comments. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Yea; Commissioner Montez- Yea; Commissioner Guidry- Yea. OLD BUSINESS: Benjamin Rath discussed Hurricane Ida recovery. He presented Pay App 3 for the retainage for the demolition of Fire Central for Outer Limit Contractors in the amount of $18,940. Commissioner Savoie moved to accept and pay the Pay App and it was seconded by Commissioner Dufrene. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Yea; Commissioner Montez- Yea; Commissioner Guidry- Yea. Rath discussed Fire Central headquarters rebuild and where it stands with FEMA. He stated we are finally moving forward. Benjamin Rath updated the board on West Cut Off fire station and on Station 10- South Golden Meadow. Chief Dedon updated on Belle Amie Fire Station and presented Pay App 14 for Belle Amie Station to Picciola Contractors in the amount of $1562.66 as Brenton Hebert could not attend the meeting. The work has been completed. Commissioner Savoie moved to accept and pay the Pay App and it was seconded by Commissioner Dufrene. NEW BUSINESS: Chairman Pitre discussed rescheduling the Budget hearing to 6:15 on June 23rd, 2026. Commissioner Guidry motioned to move the Budget hearing to this time and date, and it was seconded by Commissioner Savoie. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Yea; Commissioner Montez- Yea; Commissioner Guidry- Yea. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT: Chief Dedon discussed air pack testing currently happening. He would like to thank everyone involved. Dedon discussed structural collapse class happening right now. Chief Dedon thanked Harbor Police for their help on a call today. Discussion was held about how to help after a call today. COMMUNICATION'S REPORT: Mary St Pierre advised 57 fire calls, and 180 ambulance calls so far this month. St Pierre discussed the Motorola CAD system. St Pierre discussed that we will be hiring a new dispatcher as we are losing a dispatcher at the beginning of June. MECHANIC'S REPORT: Master Mechanic Ryan Pitre stated 43 maintenance reports and 15 work orders as well as 4 vehicles brought in for regularly scheduled work since last meeting that he attended. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Chairman Pitre asked to keep Mary Rotolo in your prayers. COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS: Commissioner Guidry: Keep up the good work. Commissioner Savoie: Stay hydrated. Commissioner Dufrene: Hurricane season is coming. Start preparing now. Commissioner Montez: It is only getting hotter. Stay cool and take breaks. PUBLIC COMMENTS: No public comments.
