TOWN OF GOLDEN MEADOW REGULAR MEETING MINUTES-ABRIDGED (for unabridged minutes, please visit https://townofgoldenmeadow-la.gov/)   Mayor Joey Bouziga called the public meeting to order on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Golden Meadow Town Hall, 107 Jervis Drive, Golden Meadow, LA 70357. Council Members Present: Mike Billiot, Jody Cheramie, Connie Demere, Nancy Fillinich, and Kip Plaisance. Council Members Absent: None. Others Attending: Town Staff, officials, and members of the public. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Gregory Badeaux and the opening prayer was offered by Gerald Louviere. A motion to approve the town’s regular meeting minutes from May 4, 2026 was made by Council Member Cheramie and seconded by Council Member Fillinich. Roll Call Vote: YEAS: Cheramie, Fillinich, Billiot, Plaisance, Demere; NAYS: NONE; ABSTAINED: NONE; ABSENT: NONE. Mayor’s Report: A motion to add the dedication and blessing of the American Legion Monument to the agenda was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Plaisance. Mayor Bouziga invited everyone to the American Legion Monument Blessing and Dedication on June 1, 2026 at 5:30 PM. American Legion #315 Commander Gregory Badeaux and VFW #8538 Incoming Post Commander Wilbur Cloutier presented Mayor Bouziga with donations to go towards the monument. Paul Pechon and Amanda Lasserre from Bourgeois and Bennett Certified Public Accountants presented the Fiscal Year 2025 Final Audit Report for The Town of Golden Meadow, with no findings or exceptions for Fiscal Year 2025. A motion to accept the Fiscal Year 2025 Financial Audit was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Plaisance. A motion to defer all Condemnation Proceedings to June 1, 2026, except for BC 1074 was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Cheramie. Building Permits: A motion to send Richard DeBerry Jr.’s rezoning request for the proposed boat storage at 154 Alex Plaisance Blvd. to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review was made by Council Member Cheramie and seconded by Council Member Plaisance. Police Business: • A motion to add hiring another police officer to the agenda was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Cheramie. Old Business: • Hurricane Ida Project 731342 (Swimming Pool, Pump Building, and Bath House-for possible alternate project): working on plans to submit to FEMA. A motion to appropriate $100,000.00 towards engineering fees while waiting on FEMA approval was made by Council Member Plaisance and seconded by Council Member Cheramie. New Business: A motion to approve the April 2026 Budget to Actuals Financial Statement, as presented, was made by Council Member Cheramie; seconded by Council Member Fillinich. A motion to re-nominate Kyle Williams to the Keep Lafourche Beautiful Committee, whose term expires June 12, 2026, was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Fillinich. A motion to add Gerald Louviere regarding Golden Meadow Library updates to the agenda was made by Council Member Cheramie and seconded by Council Member Fillinich. Town Clerk Tracee Cloutier received an email response from Laura Sanders that she wasn’t prepared to address the Council at this time and has no updates regarding the Golden Meadow Library. With no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Billiot and seconded by Council Member Demere at 7:44 PM.
