KRS 118.730 requires the Governor to issue a writ of election to fill a vacancy occurring in the Kentucky Senate when the General Assembly is not in session. The General Assembly will begin its 2026 Regular Session on January 6, 2026, and the people of Jefferson County as described in KRS 5.137 should be represented without any undue delay.
