Minutes of Regular Board Meeting
February 18, 2026
The regular school board meeting was called to order in open session at 6:34 p.m by Vice President, DeFord. Roll call indicated all were present with the exception of Ms. Williams, who was excused.
IV. Superintendent's Report and Recognitions -
Ms. Roemer provided the Board with the following updates:
We saw a 6 point increase in sense of belonging on the Middle School Panorama survey.
We're proud to report that the HS cheer team will be going to state in Green Bay.
We also want to congratulate two wrestlers, Rusty Hamilton and Phoenix Coughlin, who will be going to State on February 26th.
The SM state championship basketball team from 1976 celebrated their 50th anniversary of their win at a recent basketball game.
Our Performing Arts Center has some great shows coming up in the next few months including our own SMHS production of Hello Dolly on March 13-15. Tickets are on the PAC webpage or buy them at the door.

VI. Consent Agenda - Mr. Hansen
Moved by Hansen and seconded by Simmons that the Board approve the consent agenda as follows:
A. Adoption of Agenda.
B. Approval of Bills for Payment in the Amount of $1,949,136.20.
C. Approval of Staffing - New Hires, Resignations, Retirements, Revised FTE:
Retirement date of the following elementary teachers revised to June 12, 2026:
Laura Widenski
Brenda Osell
Resignation of the following teacher effective February 20, 2026
Stephanie Madaus - Middle School SpEd Teacher
D. Third Reading and Approval of Revised Policies 363 School Counseling Program, 421 and Rule Student Entrance Age, 431 Student Attendance, and 431.1 Student Transportation.
E. Approval of donations in the amount of $1,806 as presented.
All voted aye by roll call. Motion carried 6-0.
Moved by Hansen and seconded by Genduso that the Board approve the Minutes from the Feb. 4, 2026 Board Meeting. DeFord, Genduso, Hansen, Hintz, and Simmons voted aye. Jurowski abstained, Motion carried 5-0.
Moved by Hansen and seconded by Hintz that the Board approve the high school out of country trips: Italy Summer 2027 and South Africa Summer 2028. All voted aye by roll call. Motion carried 6-0.
VII. Information/Discussion/Possible Action
A. Retiree luncheon date - Board members discussed dates in May to host the retiree luncheon.
B. Quarterly Budget Review - Board members discussed the quarterly budget review presented
C. Initial Budget Discussion 2026-27 - Board members discussed the initial budget for the 2026-27 school year.
D. Staffing FTE Revisions - Moved by Jurowski and seconded by Hansen that the Board approve the staffing revisions effective with the 2026-27 school year, as presented. All voted aye by roll call. Motion carried 6-0.

IX. Announcements -
Mr. Genduso spoke about how he has appreciated his recent visits to schools.
Mr. Simmons mentioned that STEAM Night was successful.
X. Closed Session - Moved by Simmons and seconded by Jurowski that the Board move into Closed Session at 7:43
p.m. pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes Section 19.85(1)(e) to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility to discuss benefits for a specific employee and to discuss the superintendent evaluation. All voted aye by roll call. Motion carried 6-0.
XI. Adjournment: The board meeting was adjourned at 9:02 pm subject to the call of Vice President DeFord.
