IV. Superintendent's Report and Recognitions:
Ms. Roemer provided the Board with the following updates:
We are aware that the cameras are not working for the participants watching online and are trying to correct the problem.
We had a lot of bright spots in our winter progress assessment data. Our data showed growth across most grade levels and subject areas. Families will also see some increased communication about the Forward Exam and the ACT in the coming months.
We held our annual wellness fair yesterday. Our staff heard an amazing message of courage and resiliency from Tasha Schuh and then had the opportunity to visit a resource fair, take a Yoga class, or learn more about financial health, or spend time connecting to colleagues. This is part of our strategic plan under the employee experience. Our thanks to the Holistic Wellness Committee for planning another incredible event!
We met with community members who had concerns about our small breakfast program. We shared that we are under the 10% recommendation for added sugars, most of our menus are under 3%. We also discussed how brand name items are formulated differently for schools versus what can be purchased in a store. Information will be available in our newsletter about online menus and how nutrition requirements are calculated.
