MCS, Inc. Addresses Data Security Incident Potentially Affecting Some Patient Information
On November 13, 2025, MCS, P.C. ("MCS") experienced a data security issue that involved 2,174 Louisiana residents' health information and is providing this notice on behalf of its healthcare-provider customer.
What Happened.
A MCS team member responded to a fraudulent email and sent reports with limited health details to someone who should not have received them. After an investigation with MCS's email security partner, on December 12, 2025, MCS determined it cannot verify whether the files were opened by the unknown individual.
Information Involved.
The following information was included: name, health plan name and policy number, date of birth, and health care information such as dates of service, medical codes, claims, and charges for services. The incident did not involve any social security numbers or other financial information.
What MCS is Doing.
As soon as the incident was discovered, MCS began investigating the incident. To help prevent this from happening again, MCS has taken the following actions, to date. Reviewed its technical systems and business processes and made improvements to prevent further phishing incidents. Provided its team members extra training on phishing emails. Terminated the employee who was the subject of the phishing attack. Notified Louisiana residents whose data was compromised.
