The Crater District Area Agency on Aging (CDAAA) provides transportation for older adults and adults with disabilities throughout District 19, including the cities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Emporia, and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, and Sussex.
CDAAA is requesting $200,000 in funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 program to continue and enhance these services, with a focus on reaching clients in rural and underserved areas where access to transportation and medical services may be limited. The funds will support transportation for clients to medical appointments during standard service hours, Monday through Friday, and as needed to meet client demand.
CDAAA invites interested public and private transit and paratransit providers in the region to comment on the proposed use of funds. Written comments should be submitted by January 27th, 2026, to both: Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation – Public Transportation Division 600 E. Main Street, Suite 2102, Richmond, VA 23219 and to Crater District Area Agency on Aging, 23 Seyler Dr, Petersburg, VA 23805.
