LEGAL NOTICE
The following are summaries of ordinances adopted by Canton City Council on Mar. 30, 2026. The complete text of the ordinances may be obtained for 10 cents per page or viewed free at the office of the Clerk of Council in City Hall, 218 Cleve. Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44702, during non-holiday weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ordinance No. 51/2026
Council adopts the 2026 Annual Appropriations outlined in Ex. A. The 2026 General Fund Annual Appropriations, broken down by organizational code, are outlined in Ex. B. The Auditor is authorized to execute the interfund transfers outlined in Ex. C. Appropriation Ord. No. 243/2025 is superseded by this ordinance. All supplemental appropriations previously adopted by way of amendments to Ord. No. 243/2025 are ratified and shall be treated as supplemental appropriations to this ordinance. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 52/2026
The appropriate official(s) is authorized to: purchase and/or lease the titled vehicles described in Ex. A, including all necessary equipment and components, in accordance with Section 105.08 of the codified ordinances; enter into contract for governmental leases/ loans to assist with the purchase of vehicles and equipment; advertise, receive bids, award, and enter into contract for those purchases and projects described in Ex. A that exceed any applicable dollar amount threshold(s); or to alternatively enter into contract for the purchases described in Section 2 in accordance with any procurement process authorized by law and to enter into all necessary professional services contracts described in Ex. A. Council waives the informal resolution requirements of Section 105.09 for purchases approved through this ordinance. The Auditor is authorized to pay all moral obligations for construction contract change orders that are otherwise approved by the Board of Control pursuant to Canton Codified Ordinance Section 105.14 within the established dollar amount thresholds. The 2026 final appropriation ordinance is amended by making various supplemental appropriations and the inter-fund transfer listed in the ordinance. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 53/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to advertise, receive bids, award, and enter into all contracts necessary for the purchase of one full size cargo van, one 4x4 pickup truck with attached box, one 4x4 pickup truck, tandem axle Freightliner dump truck with stainless bed, and one valve trailer for the Water Dept. or to alternatively enter into all contracts necessary for said purchases in accordance with any procurement process authorized by either the Ohio Revised Code or Canton Codified Ordinances. Adopted as an emergency.
