LEGAL NOTICE
The following are summaries of ordinances adopted by Canton City Council on June 29, 2026. The complete text of the ordinances may be obtained for 10 cents per page or viewed free at the office of the Clerk of Council in City Hall, 218 Cleve. Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44702, during non holiday weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ordinance No. 97/2026
The Canton Municipal Clerk of Court is authorized and directed to execute and enter into a professional services contract with Yates Technology, Inc. for comprehensive programming, 24/7 emergency website maintenance, software lifecycle governance, and day-to-day environment administration for the Criminal Justice Information System infrastructure. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 98/2026
The Auditor is authorized to pay a moral obligation in an amount not to exceed $5,129 to Black-McCuskey-Souers & Arbaugh Law Firm for professional legal services dealing with economic development activity within the city. Council retroactively authorizes all actions taken prior to the passage of this ordinance related to the same. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 99/2026
Council accepts the annexation of the territory known as The 2050 & 2232 Central Ave SE-2025 Annexation containing approx. 13.525 acres of land per the legal description (Ex. A) and the map (Ex. B). Said annexed land from Canton Twp. shall be assigned to Ward 4 and zoned I-2 (Heavy Industry District). Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 100/2026
The Mayor or Safety Director is authorized to accept three grants in a total amount of $7,000 in grant funds from Walmart and Sam’s Spark Good Local Grant for the Canton Police Dept. for Canton Police supplies and support for the officers working the Hall of Fame Festival. Appropriation Ord. No. 51/2026 is amended by making the supplemental appropriation of $7,000 from the Unappropriated Balance of 1001 General Operating Fund. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 101/2026
The Mayor or Safety Director is authorized to enter into agreement for and accept $44,144.90 in grant funds from the Office of Criminal Justice Services. The Auditor is authorized to rename the 2791 Edw Byrne Mem Just Asst Grant 2018 Fund to 2791 OCJS FY26 Violence Interdiction Patrols Initiative Grant (OCJS) Fund for the purpose of receiving and appropriating the grant. Appropriation Ord. No. 51/2026 is amended by making the supplemental appropriations of $44,144.90 from the Unappropriated Balance (UB) of 2791 OCJS Fund Comprehensive Plan Implement Fund, $44,144.90 from the UB of 1001 General Operating Fund and the inter-fund advance of $44,144.90 from 1001 – Advance Out to Other Fund to 2791 Advance In from Other Fund. Adopted as an emergency.
