26043SS10 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING DEPARTMENT OF GAME, FISH AND PARKS A Public Hearing will be held at the Custer State Park – Event Barn, 13438 U.S. Highway 16A, Custer, SD 57730 at 2:00 pm (Mountain Time) on Thursday, May 7, 2026, to consider adoption, amendment and repeal of Administrative Rules of South Dakota numbered 1. ARSD 41:06:26:01 - Black Hills elk hunting season established -- Number and type of licenses -- Season dates. Effect: Increase the season length in Unit BHE-4B from Oct 15 – 31 AND Dec 1 – 16 to Oct 1 – 31 AND Dec 1 – 16. Reason: Per petition request, change would allow cow season to begin the first of October to overlap with beginning of bull elk hunting season in Black Hills Elk Hunting Unit 4. Persons interested in presenting amendments, data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may appear in-person at the hearing, or mail or e-mail them to the office of the Secretary of the Department of Game, Fish, and Parks, Foss Building, 523 East Capitol, Pierre, South Dakota 57501, or by going to the GFP website at http://gfp.sd.gov/forms/positions. The deadline to submit any such written comments for consideration by this [part-time board is seventy-two hours before the public hearing / agency is ten days after the date of the public hearing]. After the written comment period, the department of Game, Fish & Parks will consider all written and oral comments it receives on the proposed rules. The department of Game, Fish & Parks may modify or amend a proposed rule at that time to include or exclude matters that are described in this notice.
