NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING FOR ZONING MAP AMENDMENTS
The City Council of the City of Shelby will conduct public hearings during its regular meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers (300 S. Washington St, Shelby, North Carolina) to consider the following petitions to rezone properties within the City’s jurisdiction:
A petition to rezone parcel 26964, 6 acres located on West Ross Grove Road, just west of North Lafayette Street, from Residential-Office RO and Residential R10 to Residential-Office Conditional Zoning RO-CZ for a proposed multi-family development.
A petition to rezone parcel 71231, 5.5 acres located at on Morton Street between Patterson Street and South Morgan Street, from Residential R6 to Residential R6 Conditional Zoning R6-CZ for a proposed multi-family development.
Maps of the properties are on file and available for inspection at the City of Shelby Planning & Development Services office, 311 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, North Carolina.
Persons interested in being heard are invited to comment on the proposed zoning amendments at the hearings, whether for or against. Comments may be presented orally at the hearings, in writing prior to the hearings, or both.
Members of the public with special needs wishing to attend this meeting should call the City Clerk (704-484-6800) at least 24 hours prior to the meeting to request assistance.
