NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION   STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA                                                              COUNTY OF SPARTANBURG   The Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Spartanburg County announces the Nonpartisan Special Election for the Town of Central Pacolet will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 to fill an Unexpired Term for Central Pacolet Town Council.   Filing opens at Noon, February 13, 2026 Filing closes at Noon, February 23, 2026   Any person wishing to file as a candidate must be a Spartanburg County registered voter and a resident of the Municipality for at least 30 days prior to the election. Candidates must file with the Spartanburg County Election Commission a Non-partisan Statement of Intention of Candidacy form – this form may be obtained from the County Election Office or from the candidate section of the following website: www.scvotes.gov.   Filing Location: Spartanburg County Voter Registration and Elections 366 N Church St, Suite 1630 Spartanburg, SC 29303   Candidates must also pay the following Filing Fee   Central Pacolet Town Council - $0.00   There is no Filing Fee for the office of Central Pacolet Town Council. The County Voter Registration and Elections office does not accept payment for any fees. All Candidates must refer to the SC Ethics Commission website to find information about the forms (Statement of Economic Interests, Pre-Campaign Disclosure and Post Campaign) they must electronically file to comply with SC Code of Laws as regards their candidacy and campaign. Website is www.ethics.sc.gov Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than March 29, 2026. To register, one must contact the Spartanburg County Voter Registration & Elections Office. Registered electors who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Voters wishing for more information concerning absentee voting should contact the Spartanburg County Voter Registration & Elections Office. This is a nonpartisan election, and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. At 7:00 a.m. on April 26, 2026 the County Election Commission may begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at 366 N. Church St. Spartanburg, SC 29303 in Room 1630. On Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. the County Board of Canvassers will conduct a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in this election. This hearing will be held at 366 N. Church St, Suite 1630, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Any Runoff will be held two (2) weeks after the Election on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, if necessary. Early Voting for any Runoff, if necessary, will be open May 6, 2026 – May 8, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Voter Registration and Election Office at 366 N. Church St, Suite 1630, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The hearing to determine the validity of ballots challenged in the Runoff will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at 366 N.
