ORDINANCE NO. 7797 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF TUSCALOOSA PERTAINING TO THE APPLICATION FOR RETAIL SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSCALOOSA, that Section 3-25 of the Code of Tuscaloosa shall be amended to read as follows: “SECTION 3-25. Public hearing on application for alcohol licenses. A.In every case, where application is made for a license to sell alcoholicbeverages at any location within the corporate limits of the City or within thepolice jurisdiction a public hearing before the City Council shall be required. Inaddition to other advertisement requirements that may be required by law, theapplicant (with the exception of applicants for special event retail license for lessthan 7 days) shall, at applicant’s own expense, publish in a daily newspaper,regularly published in the city, an advertisement giving notice of such application.The published notice shall be published for three (3) consecutive days, the firstpublication being seven (7) days before the hearing and shall be two (2) columnsin width and two inches (2”) in depth and shall read substantially as follows: THE UNDERSIGNED HAS MADE APPLICATION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSCALOOSA FOR A SPECIAL RETAIL MORE THAN 30 DAYS  FOR THE PREMISES LOCATED AT 2410 UNIVERSITY BLVD  TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA. A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE HELD BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSCALOOSA IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL AT 5:00 O’CLOCK PM ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2025. Crestline Hotels and Resorts LLC dba Embassy Suites Tuscaloosa Alabama Dow (Name of Applicant B.In addition to the published notice required above the applicant shall poston the premises where the business or sale is to be conducted, continuously fora period of not less than seven (7) days prior to the consideration of theapplication by governing body, a posted notice of the pending application andpublic hearing concerning the granting thereof in the manner and form to besupplied by the revenue officer when application is first made to the licenseinspector for such license. Said notice shall be conspicuously displayed on thefront of the building so as to be clearly visible from the street or sidewalk adjacent thereto. C.Applicant shall take such steps as may be necessary to meet allrequirements of ordinances, regulations and statutes applicable thereto. Whenthe application for a license, as set out in sub-section (a) above, is first made, thefact of the application shall be communicated to the governing body and a day forhearing shall then be fixed and supplied to the applicant for insertion in thenewspaper and for listing in the posted notice. D.Prior to the public hearing, applicant shall deliver to the RevenueDepartment certifications of newspaper advertisements, showing publication asrequired above.
