CITY OF TUSCALOOSA ADVERTISEMENT FOR SUBCONTRACTOR PREQUALIFICATION Project Name: Utility Relocation for ALDOT Project No. DEMOF-A210 (943), Woolsey Finnell Bridge Replacement and Approaches on SR-6 (US-82) over the Black Warrior River File Number: OCA-25-1145 Engineering Project Number: 2024.729.001 Prequalification Trade: Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Subcontractor The project includes, but is not limited to: new construction of a 16-inch water line installed by a directional bore under the Black Warrior River with approximately 2,000 linear feet of 30-inch steel encasement pipe and 2,020 linear feet of 16-inch Ductile Iron Carrier Pipe with Flex Ring Joints and a 24-inch water line installed by a directional bore under McFarland Blvd. with approximately 750 linear feet of 36-inch steel encasement pipe and 760 linear feet of 24-inch Ductile Iron Carrier Pipe with Flex Ring Joints. The project is being constructed for the City of Tuscaloosa, which is the awarding authority. PREQUALIFICATION: The prequalification procedure will identify responsible and competent Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) subcontractors relative to the requirements of the Project. Pre-qualification project summary information will be made available to prospective subcontractors on September 8, 2025, by contacting Amy Whitson, Contracts and Compliance Manager, City of Tuscaloosa via email at awhitson@tuscaloosa.com . Subcontractor Prequalification Submittals are to be submitted in electronic pdf format only to: Amy Whitson, Contracts and Compliance Manager, City of Tuscaloosa, no later than 5:00pm local time on October 2, 2025. Notification of successful respondents will be issued no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on October 16, 2025. Only subcontractors who have successfully completed the prequalification process within the stated time limits and are properly licensed in accordance with criteria established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors and under the provisions of Code of Alabama, Section 34-8-1, et al., as amended, will be considered for the HDD bore work on this Project.
