NOTICE OF FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CAMA MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PERMIT The Department of Environmental Quality hereby gives public notice as required by NCGS 113A-119(b) that the following applications were submitted for a development permit in Areas of Environmental Concern as designated under the CAMA: On January 28, 2026, Robert & Nina Hill proposed to construct an approximately 850' long retaining wall along both sides (1,700' total) of an existing upland landing and, approximately 15' wide "peninsula" that would terminate at a proposed 200' rounded bulkhead at 7919 & 7915 Masonboro Sound Rd, adj. to Masonboro Sound in Wilmington, New Hanover County. Copies of these applications can be examined or copied at the office of Hannah Mitchell N.C. Dept. of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management, 127 Cardinal Drive Ext., Wilmington, NC 28405, (910) 796-7230 during normal business hours. Comments mailed to Tancred Miller, Director, Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557-3421, prior to February 23, 2026 will be considered in making the permit decision. Later comments will be accepted and considered up to the time of permit decision. Project modification may occur based on review and comment by the public and state and federal agencies.
