NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2026-20

Project Description: The City Council will consider a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application (No. 2026-20) submitted by Darrel Collins. The applicant proposes the removal of a non-historic, detached metal storage structure located at 325 W. Miner St. (APN 054-051-040). The subject property is situated within the C-2 (Downtown Commercial) zone and the Downtown Historic District. The project aims to restore the historical and architectural integrity of the site by eliminating a modern, incompatible structure that does not contribute to the district's character. No changes are proposed to the primary historic structures on the property, and the site will be cleared and stabilized following the removal.
Environmental Review Information: Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the City of Yreka's local guidelines, it has been determined that this project will not have a significant effect on the environment and is Categorically Exempt under a Class 1 Exemption (CEQA Guidelines § 15301(l)(4)). Class 1 exemptions include the demolition and removal of individual small structures, such as accessory storage buildings, where the environmental impact is negligible and the action serves to maintain or restore existing facilities.
Public Comment: Public comment may be given on this project in several ways: 1) By emailing arocalezra@yrekaca.gov. Please identify the specific item you are commenting on and whether your comment should be read at the City Council meeting by City Staff; 2) By mailing written comments to City Hall, 701 4th Street, Yreka, CA 96097 and note if your comment should be read at the City Council meeting by City Staff; 3) attending the public hearing at City Council on the noted date, time, and location above in person. If a member of the public wishes to challenge the proposed project, comments may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered prior to the public hearing.
