PUBLIC NOTICEOF EXPLANATION OF SIGNIGFICANT DIFFERENCES TO RECORD OF DECISION FTMM-53 (Parcel 52/Building 699)FORT MONMOUTH, NJ The United States of America, Department of Defense, Department of the Army (Army), hereby officially notifies the public that an Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) has been prepared to address recently identified Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the groundwater at Site FTMM-53 (Parcel 52/Building 699). The proposed modification incorporates PFAS into the existing remedy of land and groundwater use restrictions, ensuring continued protection of human health and the environment. The ESD describes the significant difference(s) between the selected remedial action and the modified remedial action, including an explanation of why such changes were made to the Record of Decision (ROD) for FTMM-53 (Parcel 52/Bldg 699), October 2020 based on new information related to an additional contaminant.
