NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE CITY OF ABILENE WILL RECEIVE SEALED, WRITTEN BIDS IN THE OFFICE OF THE PURCHASING ADMINISTRATOR, 555 WALNUT STREET, ROOM 201-A, CITY HALL, ABILENE, TEXAS 79601 UNTIL 11:00 A.M. ON THE 1ST DAY OF OCTOBER, 2025 FOR:
SALE OF PROPERTY – 200.33 ACRES, LOT 101, MAXWELL GOLF COURSE SUBDIVISION, CITY OF ABILENE, TAYLOR COUNTY, TEXAS, AS RECORDED IN PLAT CABINET 4, SLIDE 742, TAYLOR COUNTY PLAT RECORDS (AKA MAXWELL GOLF COURSE) 1002 SOUTH 32ND STREET, TAYLOR CAD PROPERTY ID NO. 32495 - BID #CB-2562
BIDS WILL BE OPENED AND READ ALOUD IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLOSING DEADLINE IN THE CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS.
INTERESTED BIDDERS MAY VIEW THE PROPERTY ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2025 FROM 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.
THERE WILL BE A MINIMUM BID OF $1,330,000.00 (ONE MILLION THREE HUNDRED THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS) SET FOR THIS PROPERTY.
SALE OF THE PROPERTY WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING EASEMENTS, RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS AND REVERSIONARY CLAUSE:
1. THE PROPERTY MUST BE USED AS A PUBLIC GOLF COURSE AND OPEN TO PUBLIC USE AND ENTRANCE FEE ALLOWED AS DETERMINED BY THE BUYER;
2. THE PUBLIC GOLF COURSE MAY ALLOW MEMBERSHIPS;
3. THE PUBLIC GOLF COURSE MUST ALLOW LOCAL ISD GOLF TEAMS TO PRACTICE WITH A FEE AS DETERMINED BY THE BUYER;
4. OWNERSHIP OF THE PROPERTY WILL AUTOMATICALLY REVERT TO THE CITY OF ABILENE IF THE PROPERTY IS NOT USED AS A PUBLIC GOLF COURSE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND ISD GOLF TEAMS;
5. RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS AND REVERSIONARY CLAUSE SHALL RUN WITH THE LAND; AND
6. SELLER SHALL RETAIN EASEMENTS FOR ALL PUBLIC UTILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY.
BIDS MUST CONTAIN:
1. BID AMOUNT;
2. BUSINESS PLAN FOR BIDDER’S OPERATION OF THE PROPERTY AS A PUBLIC GOLF COURSE.
3. STATEMENT OF FINANCIAL ABILITY EVIDENCING BIDDER’S ABILITY TO DEVELOP THE PROPERTY AS A PUBLIC GOLF COURSE.
SUCCESSFUL BIDDER IS REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE THE NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING COST IN ADDITION TO THE AMOUNT BID.
UPON THE REVIEW, APPROVAL, AWARD OF THE WINNING BID BY THE CITY COUNCIL, AND RECEIVING ALL PAYMENTS AND REIMBURSEMENTS IN FULL, THE CITY OF ABILENE WILL EXECUTE AND DELIVER A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO THE BUYER.
