WAYNESBORO CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION
POLICE OFFICER
The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Waynesboro will be holding an examination for the position of Police Officer as follows:
A practice physical fitness examination will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. – This informal (optional) practice examination is being offered to familiarize candidates with the physical fitness examination process and to assist candidates in preparing for the upcoming examination.
The physical fitness portion of the examination will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
The written portion of the examination will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
The oral portion of the examination is to be determined upon receipt of the written test results.
Secure an application packet for the examination from Borough Hall, 55 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA, during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or request via email at melinda@waynesboropa.gov.
Completed applications must be returned to the Waynesboro Civil Service Commission, Borough Hall, 55 East Main Street, P.O. Box 310, Waynesboro, PA 17268, and received no later than Friday, October 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Completed applications (including all required attachments) may also be returned via email to melinda@waynesboropa.gov by the stated deadline.
Veterans who qualify shall be given additional credits and preference pursuant to Sections 506 and 1404 of the Borough's Civil Service Regulations.
Police Officer applicants are not required to be Act 120 certified prior to taking the test; however, individuals with Act 120 certification or equivalent will be granted ten (10) points pursuant to Section 507 of the Borough's Civil Service Regulations. In addition, the Borough of Waynesboro will reimburse up to $1,000 in relocation expenses for successful applicants to establish domicile within the required area of residency, as well as a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualifying candidates.The Borough of Waynesboro does not discriminate against persons with disabilities in its employment practices; successful applicants will be chosen based upon the ability to perform the duties of the position of Police Officer.
