PUBLIC NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BIDS FOR AGRICULTURAL PASTURE LEASE   Notice is hereby given by the Board of Education of the Madison County School District that sealed bids will be received by said Board until 9:00 o’clock A.M. on the 26th day of September, 2025, in the Office of the Superintendent of Education of the Madison County School District, at 476 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157, for agricultural pasture leases on the following described Sixteenth Section Public School Trust Lands situated in Madison County, Mississippi, to wit: A certain parcel of land being situated in the SE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1W, Madison County, Mississippi, and being more particularly described as follows: Begin at an existing iron pin at a fence corner marking the Southeast corner of said Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1 West and run thence North 89 degrees 57 minutes 57 seconds West along the South line of said Section 16 for a distance of 261.00 feet to a set iron pin on the East right-of-way line of Flora-Pocahontas Road; leaving said South line of Section 16, run thence North 33 degrees 28 minutes 55 seconds West along said East right-of-way line of Flora-Pocahontas Road for a distance of 885.90 feet to a set iron pin; leaving said East right-of-way line of Flora-Pocahontas Road, run thence North 14 degrees 42 minutes 28 seconds East along an existing fence for a distance of 517.46 feet to a set iron pin at a fence corner on the South right-of-way line of Jeffery Road (unpaved); run thence along the apparent South right-of-way line of said Jeffery Road the following bearings and distances: South 84 degrees 37 minutes 29 seconds East for a distance of 402.50 feet to a set iron pin on the West top bank of a creek; South 71 degrees 39 minutes 44 seconds East for a distance of 28.17 feet to a set iron pin on the East top bank of a creek; South 79 degrees 54 minutes 10 seconds East for a distance of 193.89 feet to a set iron pin on the East line of said Section 16; run thence South along said East line of Section 16 for a distance of 1,159.00 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 16.00? acres, more or less (Tax Parcel #051E-16D-003/00.00). There is a minimum bid of $52.25 per acre for a total annual rental of $836.00 per year. All bids must be submitted on our bid form. The lease shall be for a term of five (5) years beginning January 1, 2025. The form of the lease has been prescribed by the Board of Education and is now on file in the Office of the Superintendent of Education, and interested parties may inspect the same during regular office hours. Bid proposal forms may be obtained from the Office of the Superintendent of Education. Bids shall be submitted for the entire parcel. Only the annual rental shall be subject to bid. A certified check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the annual rental should be included with the bid when submitted. Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Board of Education of the Madison County School District and plainly marked on the outside of the envelope “BID FOR AGRICULTURAL PASTURE LEASE on approximately 16.00 acres in Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1 West.” The Board of Education of the Madison County School District will meet at the Madison County School District Central Office at 476 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 3957, on the 29th day of September, 2025 at 5:00 o’clock P.M. and sealed bids received pursuant to this public notice will then and there be opened and read aloud. All bidders are advised that an auction may be held among those who submitted sealed bids. The auction may be held at the meeting at which the sealed bids are opened or at a subsequent regular or special meeting. Notice of the time and the place of the auction will be announced at the meeting at which sealed bids are opened. All bidders are advised to be present at the opening of the sealed bids, either in person or through a duly authorized representative, to protect their rights to participate in an auction. Any bidder who is not present or represented at the meeting at which the bids are opened may loose the opportunity to participate in an auction. The Board of Education of the Madison County School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids submitted. The aforesaid land is being offered for lease under the provisions of Section 29-3-81 of the Mississippi Code Annotated (1972) as amended.
