cemetery from their place of interment and permitting
them to be reinterred elsewhere, in another cemetery,

UPON THE PETITION of Petitioner Mark Platas herein, duly verified on the 3rd day of September 2025, the Written Consent of the Nominal-Respondent Town of Ramapo, and upon all the papers and proceedings heretofore had herein,
LET RESPONDENT BISHOP BURIAL PLAT a/k/a BISHOP FAMILY CEMETERY AND ALL OTHER PERSONS INTERESTED show cause before this Court, before Judge David Fried, at the Rockland County Courthouse, 1 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on the 15th day of October, 2025, at 9:15 AM o'clock in the forenoon of that day or as soon thereafter as counsel can be heard, why the Court should not issue an Order as requested in the Verified Petition and Judgment, pursuant to the N-PCL § 1401(b) and the common law of this great State, authorizing the disinterment and removal of the ten (10) or more bodies laid to rest in the BISHOP BURIAL PLAT a/k/a BISHOP FAMILY CEMETERY, because [1] the Respondent cemetery has fallen into disuse and disrepair, has not received a deceased person for interment for more than 150 years, has not received a visitor in years, and a more suitable site for their interment and perpetual care exists; [2] there are no surviving spouses, children, parents, or next of kin; [3] no other person or entity has objected to the proposed change in place of interment; [4] the Town Supervisor of the Town of Ramapo, a municipal entity owning land upon which a portion of the private family cemetery sits and the land upon which access is gained to said cemetery, consents to the relief sought in this petition, in favor of reinterment in the Tappan Historic Cemetery, a properly kept public cemetery, in which the remains of each deceased person may be buried together with their monuments, markings, or headstones, and [5] Petitioner will bear the responsibility for the expenses associated with such removal and reinterment; together with such other and further relief as this Court deems just and proper under the circumstances
SUFFICENT CAUSE APPEARING THEREFOR, it is
ORDERED that [1] service of a copy of this Order to Show Cause and the papers upon which it was made via personal service upon Respondent Bishop Burial Plat a/k/a Bishop Family Cemetery, and upon the Ramapo Town Attorney's office via First Class Mail, on or before September 17, 2025, and [2] publication of a copy of this Order to Show Cause in the Journal News, a legal newspaper which is published nearest to the cemetery from which the removal is to be made, at least once in each week for two successive weeks prior to the return date of this Order to Show Cause, be deemed good and sufficient service; and it is further
