LEGAL NOTICE The Freedom Township Board of Trustees will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. with their regular business meeting immediately following. The hearing will be held at the Freedom Town Hall, which is located in the triangle of State Routes 303, 700 and 88. The Board of Trustees will review the following text amendments to the Freedom Township Zoning Resolution. Amendment 1 – 202.0 Rural Residential District "RR" Letter A Permitted Uses; number 7 add the text – A home-based business may be evaluated periodically by the Township Zoning Inspector to make sure the business is still an appropriate home-based business and has not become a more intensive commercial venture that has developed in the Rural Residential District; Add number 8 to read as follows - Home-based businesses are permitted two commercial vehicles over 10,001 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW). Amendment 2 – 202.0 Rural Residential District "RR" Permitted Uses; add letter C listing a noise ordinance. Re-letter Regulations Governing Rural Residential District Structures and Uses to letter D. Amendment 3 – 401.1 Permissible Uses; Add – The following is a list of the types of home-based businesses permitted under these regulations. It is recognized that this list is not totally inclusive. A determination of substantial similarity to items 1 through 20 below by the Board of Zoning Appeals will need to be made if the use or type of use is not listed; modify letter A number 15 by deleting Secretarial and replacing it with Administration; adding number 19 to state – Home and/or property repair and improvement services such as Carpenter, Painter, Drywaller, Lawn Care Services, Electrician, A/C Repair, etc.; adding number 20 to state - Other home occupations which have no customer or client visits. Amendment 4 – 401.1 Permissible Uses Letter B; Remove numbers 4 and 10. Proposed amendments will be posted outside the Freedom Town Hall at least ten days prior to the hearing.
