Notice of Temporary Permit Application T033516
Siskiyou County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (SCFCD) filed a temporary permit application with the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board), Division of Water Rights, pursuant to Water Code section1425 et seq. The project associated with the application is located in Siskiyou County and would divert water from the Shasta River stream system. The Applicant requests authorization to appropriate surface water for underground storage as described below.

Type of Temporary Permit: 180-Day Temporary Permit
Date of Filing: The application was filed with the State Water Board on August 29, 2025.
Source of Water: The source of water is the Shasta River, which is tributary to Klamath River, thence the Pacific Ocean.
Amount: The maximum amount of water requested for diversion is 4,800 acre-feet, which would be diverted at a rate not to exceed 40 cubic feet per second.
Season of Diversion: The season for diversion of water would be from January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026.
Point of Diversion (POD): The point where water would be diverted is located at North 2,469,908 feet and East 6,432,002 feet by California Coordinate System, Zone 1, North American Datum 1983 Section 6, Township 43 North, Range 5 West, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian.
Purpose of Use: The purpose of use for water is Domestic and Irrigation.
Place of Use: The place of use is 1,477 acres of the Grenada Irrigation District (GID) service area.
Location and Type of Infiltration: Diverted water would be infiltrated to groundwater storage through the GID service ditch, which is 7 miles long and extends from GID pumpstation (POD) through the GID service area. Water would also be delivered by the service ditch to on-farm recharge areas for infiltration to underground storage.
Use Accounting: The water stored underground through this temporary permit is expected to be used within one year of infiltration to storage.

Procedure for Filing Objections
Pursuant to Water Code section 1425, any interested person may file an objection against the approval of the subject application. Objections should be submitted via email to the staff and applicant contact listed below but may also be submitted via regular mail or hand delivered. If objections are sent by mail or hand delivered, please provide a courtesy email to the contact listed below.
Objections must be received by the Division of Water Rights or postmarked by October 13, 2025, with copy provided to the applicant. The State Water Board may, for good cause shown, allow additional time to file an objection.
