NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of Doylestown Borough, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, will conduct a public hearing on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall, located at 10 Doyle Street, Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comment and public testimony regarding the following proposed Ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF DOYLESTOWN, BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA AMENDING ARTICLE 5, SECTION 520 OF ORDINANCE 1974-1 KNOWN AS THE DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH SUBDIVISION AND LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS TO AMEND THE LIST OF APPROVED PLANTINGS, TO ADDRESS IMPACT ON PLANTINGS FROM RISING TEMPERATURES, AND TO DEFINE AND ALLOW FOR NATIVE CULTIVARS AND NATIVE HYBRIDS.
In summary, the proposed Ordinance adds a definition for “Native Cultivar” and “Native Hybrid” to the list of definitions set forth at Article 5, Section 520, Subsection 1, and amends Article 5, Section 520, Subsection 2.C. to add the same to the list of approved plant species in Section 14. The proposed Ordinance also strikes and replaces the language for “Recommended Plant Characteristics” at Article 5, Section 520, Subsection 13, to prioritize native plant species and allow for “Native Cultivar” and “Native Hybrid” plants, and adds the following to the list of Approved Plants at Subsection 14: Acer saccharum, Acer xfreemanii, Gymnocladus dioicus, Magnolia tripetala, Taxodium ascendens, Taxodium distichum, Thuga occidentalis, Thuga plicata, Ulmus americana, Asculus octandra, Asculus octandra, Cladrastis kentuckea (lutea), Halesia Carolina, Aesulus pavia, Crataegus viridis, and Crataegus viridis. The proposed Ordinance also contains a partial repealer, a severability clause, and a provision about the proposed ordinance’s effective date.
During the public meeting after the hearing, Borough Council may consider enactment of the proposed ordinance. A copy of the proposed ordinance may be reviewed at Borough Hall, located at 10 Doyle Street, Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901 during normal business hours; a copy may be obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof. In addition, a copy has also been provided to the newspaper in which this notice is advertised, and to the Bucks County Law Library.
