WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP PUBLIC NOTICE
The Washington Township Board of Supervisors at their regular monthly Board meeting held on October 20, 2025, 1:30 P.M. at the Washington Township Municipal Building, 11798 Buchanan Trail E., Waynesboro, (Washington Township), Franklin County, Pennsylvania, intend to amend the Washington Township Code by amending the Zoning ordinance as it relates to funeral homes, crematoria, dispensaries, data centers, and vape shops. ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING CHAPTER OF THE WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP CODE AS IT RELATES TO FUNERAL HOMES, CREMATORIA, DISPENSARIES, DATA CENTERS, AND VAPE SHOPS
The first part of the Ordinance sets forth the background and legal authority for enacting the Ordinance.
Section 1 amends the current Chapter 360 of the Washington Township Code as follows:
Subsection 1 amends § 360-5(B) by adding definitions for crematorium and dispensary/vape shop, amending the definition of funeral home, and removing the definition of mortuary.
Subsection 2 amends § 360-49(C) by changing a reference from mortuary or funeral parlor to funeral home.
Subsection 3 amends § 360-81 to list permitted uses in Commercial Districts, which now include funeral homes and dispensaries/vape shops, but not crematoria.
Subsection 4 amends § 360-88 to list permitted uses in Commercial Neighborhood Districts, which now include funeral homes but not dispensaries, vape shops, or crematoria.
Subsection 5 amends § 360-100(I) to read: “Laboratories, data centers, and crematoria.
Sections 2, 3, and 4 contain severability, repeal, and effective date provisions.
