1. Overview
Oxnard School District is seeking proposals from qualified organizations, agencies, or individuals to develop and implement a Nutrition Education Program that supports student engagement in school meal programs, increases awareness of nutrition and healthy eating habits, and promotes understanding of the district’s Farm to School initiatives.
The program should be age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and aligned with national and state educational and nutrition standards.
2. Program Goals
The Nutrition Education Program must address the following objectives:
? School Meal Engagement: Educate students about the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, promoting participation and engagement with the school cafeteria.
? Nutritional knowledge: Teach students fundamental concepts of healthy eating, including food groups, balanced meals, and lifelong wellness habits.
? Farm to School Education: Provide engaging content about the district’s Farm to School initiatives, including the benefits of seasonal, locally grown fruits and vegetables.
? School Gardens: Engage students in their school garden as a living classroom to learn how their food grows.
3. Scope of Work & Deliverables
Proposals must include a detailed plan to meet the goals listed above and should include the following deliverables:
? Summary of materials for garden or cafeteria-based education
? Proposed teaching calendar and schedule for all schools in the district
? Development plan for educational media (posters, videos, flyers) for student and family engagement
? Summary of professional development sessions for cafeteria staff or educators (optional but encouraged)
? Coordination with district food services and Farm to School programs
? End-of-year report assessing participation, impact, and future recommendations
4. Proposal Requirements:
Interested vendors must include the following in their proposal:
? Program Plan: A detailed narrative describing how the program will meet the stated goals, including a timeline of activities
? Experience and Qualifications: Description of prior experience working with public school districts on nutrition, health, or agriculture education programs
? Sample Materials: Examples of previous curricula, lesson plans, or educational materials
? Budget: A detailed annual budget not to exceed $150,000 Annually
? Evaluation Plan: Description of how program success and student engagement will be measured
? References: Contact information for at least two public school district clients for whom similar services were provided
5. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following:
? Alignment with program goals and objectives
? Demonstrated experience and qualifications
? Creativity and effectiveness of proposed educational strategies
? Feasibility and clarity of the budget
? References and prior performance

All proposals must be received by 11/3/2025, 4:00p.m. Late submissions will not be considered.

All questions regarding this RFP must be submitted in writing to jcorona@oxnardsd.org
no later than 10/24/2025 by 4 p.m. Questions will be answered by email and posted to the Child Nutrition Services website no later than October 27, 2025 by 5 p.m.
8. Additional Information
Contract term: One year with option for four (4) annual renewals.
Oxnard School District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to negotiate changes to the scope of services with the selected vendor.
