NOTICE OF FILING AND PUBLIC HEARINGS
IN THE MATTER OF THE PETITION OF AQUA NEW JERSEY, INC. FOR APPROVAL OF AN INCREASE IN ITS 2026 PURCHASED WASTEWATER TREATMENT ADJUSTMENT CLAUSE ("PSTAC") RATE, TRUE-UP OF ITS 2024 PSTAC RATES, AND OTHER REQUIRED APPROVALS
BPU DOCKET NO. WR25080475
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on August 15, 2025, Aqua New Jersey, Inc. ("Company"), filed a petition with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities ("Board") for approval to increase the current level of its Purchased Sewerage Treatment Adjustment Clause ("PSTAC") ("Petition"). Specifically, the Company is seeking authorization to adjust the level of its PSTAC to reflect a net under-recovery of wastewater treatment costs for 2024, as well to set prospective rates for 2026 to recover estimated wastewater treatment cost increases. Consequently, the Company is proposing to increase the monthly PSTAC surcharge from $26.39 to $28.46 for a residential customer, an increase of $2.07 (or 7.85%) per month. The proposed rates in the Petition would increase revenues in 2026 by $203,719 or 7.85%. The PSTAC surcharge provides no profit to the Company and is a pass-through of actual charges from the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority, the Ocean County Utilities Authority, and the Logan Township Municipal Utilities Authority.
IF APPROVED, AN AVERAGE RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER WILL SEE HIS/HER TOTAL BILL FOR WASTEWATER SERVICE INCREASE FROM APPROXIMATELY $316.68 TO APPROXIMATELY $341.52, AN INCREASE OF $24.84 ANNUALLY, OR APPROXIMATELY 7.85%.
The tariff for the proposed PSTAC is part of the Petition filed with the Board, which was served upon the Director of the New Jersey Division of Rate Counsel ("Rate Counsel"). Notice of the filing of the Petition was also served on the clerks of the municipalities in the service areas of the Company. Further information and copies of the Petition may be obtained at the Company's offices located at 10 Black Forest Road, Hamilton, New Jersey 08691.
