ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed proposals will be received by the Owner, Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, until 2:00 PM, legally prevailing time, on October 28, 2025, for the Chamber of Commerce /West Alabama Works Building Renovations. Bids will be received in the Conference Room of WorkSouth, Located at The Village at Northbank, 1490 Northbank Parkway, Suite 200, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read.
A Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held on October 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at 2222 9th St, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 in the second level conference room. The existing building and exterior areas will be available immediately upon the completion of the pre-bid.
Bid Documents (Drawings and Specifications) for the project will be available electronically in PDF digital format to all interested General Contractors and upon request to Subcontractors and/or Dealers. Drawings and Specifications may be examined at the office of the Architect, Caldwell Architects, 1490 Northbank Pkwy., Ste. 212, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35406; Tuscaloosa Blueprinting and Reprographics, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; ConstructConnect CMD Group and Dodge Construction Plan Room.
A cashier’s check or bid bond payable to Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract.
The general scope of the project includes an area of approximately 7,250 sf of a two-story lobby area with selective demolition and new construction. Demolition of interior walls, millwork, finishes, and fixtures is included, with minimal modifications to MEP as necessary. New construction will include new walls, finishes, fixtures, and equipment related to this lobby area, but also includes (3) single use restrooms.
Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Architect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered.
All bidders must be responsible, meeting the criteria and requirements set forth in the Instructions to Bidders in the specifications manual and bid proposal. The owner reserves the right to reject all bids and/or reject and rebid the project should it determine the same is in the best interest of the owner.
Nonresident Bidders must accompany any written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in such nonresident Bidder’s state of domicile, as to the preferences, if any or none, granted by the law of that state to its own business entities whose principal place of business are in that state in the letting of any or all public contracts.
This project is funded partially with Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Funds (Project #:AL-22385).
All questions referring to the actual Bid Documents shall only be submitted by email to the Architect’s representative. Bidders shall contact Caldwell Architects of AL, Inc. for the email address for submitting questions and/or requesting clarifications. No correspondence shall be allowed directly to the owner and any requested contact with the owner shall be through the architect.
