OF INVITATION FOR BIDS
FOR AGRICULTURAL PASTURE LEASE
Notice is hereby given by the Board of Education of the Madison County School District that sealed bids will be received by said Board until 3:00 o’clock P.M. on the 31st day of October, 2025, in the Office of the Superintendent of Education of the Madison County School District, at 476 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157, for an agricultural pasture lease on the following described Sixteenth Section Public School Trust Lands situated in Madison County, Mississippi, to wit:
A certain parcel of land being situated in the W1/2 of the SE1/4 and the E1/2 of the SW1/4 of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1 West, Madison County, Mississippi, and being more particularly described as follows:
Commence at a fence corner post marking the Southeast corner of said Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1 West, and run thence North for a distance of 1,300.00 feet to a point; run thence West for a distance of 1,737.00 feet to a fence corner post being the POINT OF BEGINNING of the parcel of land herein described; from said POINT OF BEGINNING, run thence North 89 degrees 54 minutes 07 seconds West along a meandering barb wire fence marking the North line of the George D. Allard, M.D., property for a distance of 1,316.03 feet to a fence corner post; leaving said North line of the Allard property, run thence along a meandering barb wire fence the following bearings and distances: North 01 degrees 39 minutes 41 seconds West for a distance of 390.69 feet to a point; North 03 degrees 40 minutes 18 seconds West for a distance of 120.00 feet to a point; North 06 degrees 04 minutes 03 seconds West for a distance of 370.49 feet to a fence corner post; run thence South 89 degrees 24 minutes 04 seconds East for a distance of 134.56 feet to an existing ½ inch iron pin marking the Southwest corner of the Richey and Ann Douglas lease property as described in deed recorded in Deed Book 362 at Page 217, on file and of record in the office of the Chancery Clerk of Madison County at Canton, Mississippi; run thence South 84 degrees 44 minutes 00 seconds East along a meandering barb wire fence marking the South line of said Douglas property for a distance of 129.30 feet to a set ½ inch iron pin marking the Southeast corner of said Douglas property; run thence North 15 degrees 51 minutes 00 seconds East along a meandering barb wire fence marking the East line of said Douglas property for a distance of 206.05 feet to a set ½ inch iron pin on the southern right-of-way line of Flora-Pocahontas Road; run thence South 67 degrees 03 minutes 21 seconds East along said southern right-of-way line of Flora-Pocahontas Road for a distance of 270.58 feet to a fence corner post marking the Northwest corner of the Martha M. Crisler lease property as described in deed recorded in Deed Book 195 at Page 74, on file and of record in the aforesaid Chancery Clerk’s office; run thence South 07 degrees 06 minutes 33 seconds West along a meandering barb wire fence marking the West line of said Crisler property for a distance of 214.47 feet to a fence corner post; run thence along a meandering barb wire fence marking the southern line of said Crisler property, along the southern line of the Flora Masonic Lodge Number 112 and Eastern Star Chapter Number 40, as described in deed recorded in Deed Book 141 at Page 62 and along the southern line of the Cinderella Gross property as described in deed recorded in Deed Book 259 at Page 613 the following bearings and distances: South 68 degrees 40 minutes 35 seconds East for a distance of 441.64 feet to a fence post; South 62 degrees 42 minutes 23 seconds East for a distance of 202.99 feet to a set ½ inch iron pin on the West line of the Mississippi State Highway Commission lease property as described in deed recorded in Deed Book 259 at Page 613, on file and of record in the aforesaid Chancery Clerk’s office; said point being 1.0 feet westerly of an 8 foot chain link fence; run thence South 27 degrees 57 minutes 22 seconds West along said West line of said Mississippi State Highway Commission property for a distance of 79.77 feet to a set ½ inch iron pin being 2.0 feet westerly of a fence corner post; run thence South 58 degrees 57 minutes 38 seconds East along an 8 foot chain link fence line marking the southern line of said Mississippi State Highway Commission property for a distance of 332.45 feet to a fence corner post; run thence South 01 degrees 39 minutes 04 seconds West along a meandering wire fence for a distance of 252.13 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 21.37 acres, more or less (Tax Parcels #051E-16D-014; #051E-16D-015; #051E-16C-008 and #051E-16C-006).
The lease shall be for a term of five (5) years beginning January 1, 2026. The form of the lease has been prescribed by the Board of Education and is now on file in the Office of the Superintendent of Education, and interested parties may inspect the same during regular office hours.
There is a minimum bid of $52.50 per acre for a total annual rental of $1,121.93. All bids must be submitted on our bid form
Bid proposal forms may be obtained from the Office of the Superintendent of Education. Bids shall be submitted for the entire parcel. Only the annual rental shall be subject to bid. A certified check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the annual rental should be included with the bid when submitted. Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Board of Education of the Madison County School District and plainly marked on the outside of the envelope “BID FOR AGRICULTURAL PASTURE LEASE on approximately 21.37 acres in Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 1 West.”
The Board of Education of the Madison County School District will meet at Madison County School District Central Office at 476 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 3957, on the 3rd day of November, 2025 at 5:00 o’clock P.M. and sealed bids received pursuant to this public notice will then and there be opened and read aloud. All bidders are advised that an auction may be held among those who submitted sealed bids. The auction may be held at the meeting at which the sealed bids are opened or at a subsequent regular or special meeting. Notice of the time and the place of the auction will be announced at the meeting at which sealed bids are opened. All bidders are advised to be present at the opening of the sealed bids, either in person or through a duly authorized representative, to protect their rights to participate in an auction. Any bidder who is not present or represented at the meeting at which the bids are opened may lose the opportunity to participate in an auction.
The Board of Education of the Madison County School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids submitted.
The aforesaid land is being offered for lease under the provisions of Section 29-3-81 of the Mississippi Code Annotated (1972) as amended. Published by order of the Board of Education of the Madison County School District.
