Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records for Former Students
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, in accordance with IAC 7-38-3 (Confidentiality safeguards in the collection, maintenance, and destruction of educational records), will be changing its policy of record retention. Beginning in November 2025, the Office of Special Education will begin to destroy records of former students (with a birth year of 1998) who had an individualized Educational Plan while a student in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.
Thereafter, and in accordance with IAC 7-38-3(4), the EVSC will store former students’ records at least five years after the students exit from the special education program. During their senior year, students, as well as their parents or guardians will be informed of this process.
Any former student, parent, or guardian of a former student wishing to obtain records before they are destroyed, must notify the office of Special Education by October 31, 2025.
