NOTICE BY THE CITY OF DAVENPORT, FLORIDA, OF THE INTENT TO USE
THE UNIFORM AD VALOREM METHOD OF COLLECTION OF
CERTAIN SOLID WASTE COLLECTION NON-ADVALOREM ASSESSMENTS
Notice is hereby given to all owners of lands located within the boundaries of the City of Davenport, Florida, that only receive garbage collection services and no other Davenport utility services that Davenport intends to use the uniform ad valorem method for collecting non-ad valorem assessments that may be levied by Davenport on those previously described benefited properties within the city boundaries, as set forth in Section 197.3632 of the Florida Statutes, and that the Davenport City Commission will hold a public hearing on December 1, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 1 South Allapaha Avenue, Davenport, FL 33837.
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the adoption of a Resolution authorizing Davenport to use the uniform ad valorem method of collecting non-ad valorem assessments levied by Davenport, as provided in Section 197.3632 of the Florida Statutes, on those benefited properties located within the Davenport city limits that only receive garbage collection services and no other Davenport city utility services. The City Commission of the City of Davenport is considering adopting a non-ad valorem assessment until otherwise determined by the City Commission, and if levied, the revenue from the special assessment will be used to reimburse the City of Davenport for costs and expenses incurred when the City of Davenport provides solid waste collection facilities and services to those properties located within the Davenport city limits to which only solid waste collection system services are provided.
If the foregoing non-ad valorem assessment is adopted, the assessment may be levied for the first time in 2026. No assessment will be imposed in 2026 unless and until the City Commission holds a separate public hearing.
Interested parties may appear at the public hearing to be heard regarding the use of the uniform ad valorem method of collecting such non-ad valorem assessments. If any person decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at this public hearing such person will need a record of proceedings, and for such purpose the person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made at their own expense and which record includes the testimony and evidence on which the appeal is based.
