NOTICE OF INTENT TO USE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTING
NON-AD VALOREM ASSESSMENTS FOR NON-AD VALOREM
ASSESSMENT FOR FIRE PROTECTION AND RESCUE SERVICES
The City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida (the “City”), hereby provides notice of its intent to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem assessments, pursuant to section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, for properties located within the jurisdictional boundaries for the City, to fund the cost of providing fire rescue services for the Fiscal Year beginning on October 1, 2026, and continuing until discontinued by the City.
The City will consider the adoption of a resolution electing to use the uniform method of collecting such assessments at a public hearing to be held at 6:30 pm on December 9, 2025, in the City Commission Chambers, 214 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168. Copies of the proposed form of resolution may be obtained from the City Clerk at (386) 410-2630. Said resolution will state the need for levy and will contain a legal description of the boundaries of the real property subject to levy.
All affected real property owners have a right to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the City Clerk any time prior to the public hearing. If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at the hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons needing a special accommodation or an interpreter to participate in this proceeding should contact the City Clerk at (386) 410-2630 at least seven days prior to the date of the hearing.

Pursuant to Sec. 286.0105, F.S., if any person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission at this public meeting, the person will need a record of the proceedings and for such purposes may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
